What’s going on

I’ve created this page to add brief items of interest, random thoughts, questions, and perhaps the occasional rant; in other words, it’s a space to share thoughts that do not warrant an entire blog post.

Tues. 12/1/25: Just started thinking about Mecum Kissimmee in January. I have a cousin who lives in Florida who’s getting on in years. I have not seen him in a while. Might consider spending some time with him and going to the auction for a few days. I think he’s about 90 minutes away.

Sun. 12/14/25: Looks like Kissimmee in January is out. My family trip is now scheduled for February. Oh well, no great loss. Yesterday, visited a cousin on Staten Island. The entire family drives Fords, and they have for years. Cousin’s daughter Erin just traded her Edge for a new Bronco Sport, in baby blue. She took me for a ride, and I must admit, after reading some negative reviews of the vehicle, that overall, I was impressed. Smooth ride, good comfort inside (cloth upholstery, which we both agreed is more comfortable year-round), and interior fit and finish that looked surprisingly good for a domestic product. Now about that color….

Sat. Feb. 7, 2026

Caught this old-school Land Rover roaring down Route 202 in front of me the other day. It was about 20 degrees F, and I can’t imagine how comfortable (or uncomfortable) it was for the occupants, but he had no trouble going 60 MPH!

Tuesday, June 30, 2026:

I’m looking for a used Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan, something in the range of model years 2018 through 2023. Test drove this 2024 car at Performance Alfa Romeo in Whippany several weeks ago. It was rear wheel drive! Rare to find something like that in the Northeast. The color was the big turnoff: something that Alfa calls Moonlight Gray, which I found to look very dull and washed out. But I love the red interior with the heavily bolstered sport seats. But also notice how Alfa went cheap; earlier cars (roughly 2021 and earlier) carried some of the red onto the door panels and across the dash. But newer cars have the color only on the seat upholstery. What do you think
