NJ Alfa Club Breakfast Meet, Nov. 9, 2025

Members of the New Jersey Chapter of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club got together on Sunday November 9th, 2025, for our monthly breakfast meetup. The Americana Diner in Shrewsbury, NJ again played host for the thirteen intrepid Alfisti who braved changeable skies and the ever-present threat of rain. But the promise of fresh griddle cakes, hot coffee, and conversation about Italian cars will get us up and out of the house, no matter the time or temperature.

We had a particularly nice variety of Milanese macchine this time around, with Lee’s GTV6 (a model we seem to rarely see), Dave’s new-to-him ’71 GTV, Alex’s always-impressive Duetto (on which he bravely kept the top down through breakfast) and several moderns, including three Stelvios and a Guilia Quadrifoglio. The thirteen of us were crammed around a table for ten, but we made it work. Our waitress did an exemplary job keeping us plied with food and drink, and as is the custom, after breakfast we spilled out into the parking lot where we continued the conversations.

Yes, there’s 12 here; Frank stepped away.

We finally bid ciao around 11 a.m. and headed home. Our Chapter has, in my humble opinion, done an outstanding job keeping the monthly breakfast tradition alive, and rotating the location among several diners throughout the state also helps bring out members who might not otherwise be able to make a longer drive. With the holiday season approaching, I’m certain that we’ll still find the time (and the room in our bellies) for a December breakfast.

    • HI Glenn, I can’t speak for the entire Chapter, but I can tell you that “most” members of the New Jersey chapter live in central NJ. Since we started the breakfast meets, we have been very open to suggestions from members for different diner locations. So far, no one has suggested any diners in Bergen County. That doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t consider it, but we would also try to gauge how many members would be willing to make that trip. I hope this helps. Thanks for reading the blog! Best, Richard

  1. Hey Richard,

What a fun blog post about a fun experience. As wonderful as it certainly is to own and drive one of these Italian beauties, I’m sure it’s extra fun to get together with others who share the passion, to share stories or maybe get ideas, as well as to see what makes each of these models special and some of the through-lines that they share.

One question: as you wrap up these get-togethers do all of you do a small parade through some part of town at a legally slow speed to let some passersby admire this “collection?” Maybe you can find spots that have a local news reporter who could even cover that event for the local newspaper (some still exist).

    Ciao for now.

    • Hi John, and thanks as always for reading the blog! Good suggestion about the drive, but let me explain: in the past, we have done a caravan drive before or after a gathering, but it’s always planned ahead so that car owners know what to expect. Keep in mind that we have a mix of owners: some still work, some are retired, some have family obligations at home, some live 5 minutes from the diner, some (like me) live an hour away. So the time to make the drive is not always there. Last month, the club did a lengthy tour all the way up to Port Jervis NY and had lunch there. I would have joined them, but you know where I was: Torino! So I missed it this time. Best, Richard

      • Good points, definitely something that needs to be organized in advance.

I recall seeing a parade of Fiat 500s driving down a street in Torino a few weeks ago and it was as fun to see a dozen of these out of the blue.

        Keep up the great blogging!

    • Bonjour Gregory,

Merci d’avoir lu mon blog.

      Bonne chance !
